故事叙述就读于埼玉县某中学的平凡中学生主角满潮永澄，在暑假时于濑户内海祖母家游玩，而在海中遇溺之时遭人鱼少女濑户拯救，但因人鱼世界中的一条规矩，被人类看见人鱼真身的话，双方中的一方就必须选择死亡，而能回避这向规矩的最后手段，就是成为人鱼家族的一员。 灿借此机会向永澄求婚，但遭到灿的父亲豪三郎的极力反对，而豪三郎乃是人鱼族的黑社会集团濑户内鱼类连合濑户组的老大，这桩婚姻却不被灿的黑道老爸看好，甚至从中作梗破坏。灿追随着永澄来到了他所就读的矶野第三中学校，充满暴力（？！）风情的青春爱情喜剧就此拉开序幕。
